How often do I need to replace my BRITA water filter?
For optimum BRITA performance, it’s important to change BRITA water filters on a regular basis. Depending on the BRITA system you use, BRITA filters process between 15 and 100 gallons of water before replacement is necessary.

Fortunately, BRITA replacement filters are inexpensive. In fact, the average BRITA filter costs less than 20 cents a gallon, which is a fraction of the cost of bottled water.

BRITA Pitcher Filters
The BRITA Pitcher Filter Replacement Indicator counts the number of times you fill your pitcher. When you reach about 40 gallons, the indicator will inform you that you need a new filter.
Four different color indicator rings come with each BRITA Pitcher Filter Replacement Indicator, which can be found inside a replacement filter multi-pack. The following rings should be used with the following pitchers:
* Blue Ring – Standard, Space Saver, Prism, Niagara, Niagara Blue, Cascade, Atlantis and Ultra
* Red Ring – UltraTMMax, Optimax®
* Yellow Ring – Magnum, Magnum II
* Green Ring – Contour
If you receive your Filter Replacement Indicator with a new Pitcher Filtration System, you automatically receive the correctly colored indicator ring.

BRITA Ultra Faucet Filter
A Filter Replacement Indicator is built into the BRITA Ultra Faucet Filter system and signals - by flashing red - the the need to replace your filter after approximately 100 gallons or four months, whichever comes first.

BRITA Fill & Go Water Filtration Bottle Filters
For peak performance, it's recommended that you change the BRITA filter on your BRITA Fill & Go Water Filtration Bottle after every 15 gallons of water. All BRITA portable bottles comes with a convenient self-adhesive calendar to remind you when it is time to change your filter.
